Home Based Business

Home based business is an answer to the Economic Crisis for the majority of us. According to the National Council of Better Business Bureaus, more and more people are looking for work from home and home based business opportunities on the Internet. This is good news and a great move toward solving the problem of unemployment and earning a livable income, especially during tough economic times.

However, as more people look for opportunities on the Internet, unfortunately, the number of scam artists increase and take advantage of income opportunity seeking people. In particular, senior citizens are a new target for fraud and Internet scams. Most are seeking a way of earning income to supplement their retirement pension, Social Security benefit income and just about all fixed income recipients.

These are some of the methods scammers use to prey on individuals looking for opportunities? They use the Internet as a tool to recruit home based business prospects allowing them to hide their identities. A common trick to attract prospects is to post fake ?testimonials? about employees who became rich after joining their opportunity.

Take a look at more of the scam methods used to take your money:
There is the old ?bait-and-switch? scheme that requires payment up front for materials. Then the victim pays a start up cost and may never receive what they paid for such as; supplies, instructions or ?client? leads. Many times they receive some goods but then asked to give up more money for the ?whole package.? It?s almost laughable, but many people fall for the same scam over and over. To those, I say, remember the IBM logo years ago prompting you to ?Think?. Think about what you are doing and use your head for something more than a hat rack. In either case, the money paid out is much more than the true value of the promised materials. Believe it or not, the ?leads? you are given are usually names or companies taken from a phone directory or bought from other scammers. I just cringe at the thought of people actually “buying leads”.

Other tricks and schemes include mentoring programs where Scammers post advertisements in local newspapers to ?Start Your Own Business,? and offering a startup package for some ridiculous amount of money. But once that money is sent, they say you need to pay more to have a ?mentor? give you personal instructions over the telephone. That alone should be a red flag signal that something is not quite right here.

The main question is what can you do about it? You can get busy and learn more about methods used to separate you from your money. You can also learn by talking to individuals already operating a home based business, due diligence on scams and fraud, as well as using plain old common sense. In other words, “think” before you act.

Keep in mind, fraud and scams were alive and well long before the Internet. This powerful tool known as the Internet just made it easier for criminals to do their dirt.

Business Opportunity

Have you ever thought about running an online business opportunity from home? There are plenty of business opportunities out there, but an online business opportunity is worthless, if you don’t seize the opportunity. They hear you knocking at the door, so drop in and check it out; is it legitimate, is it a scam? Check it out and go through it with a fine tooth comb. It is well known by many, that success in a new business is not easy and success in an online business is even more difficult. This involves bringing fresh ideas into the business, like marketing and branding yourself and business on the Internet.

What are ?Business Opportunities??
Business opportunities are actually prepackaged small business deals offered mostly to inexperienced entrepreneurs and ?newbies? to Internet business. According to the Federal Trade Commission, every year fraudulent business opportunities cheat consumers nationwide out of tens of millions of dollars. Business Opportunities are all over the Internet and there are good business opportunities and some that are not. Detailed research, talking with individuals already in a business opportunity and learn everything you can will go a long way toward success.

Business opportunities are an excellent way to be able to work from home. More often than not people invest thousands of dollars into a company or business opportunity and then are surprised when the company fails or doesn’t? live up to what they expected. That says you did not do your homework. Conducting business is conducting business whether on the Internet or offline and the same rules apply; plan, due diligence, investigate and check out EVERY business opportunity thoroughly or you will get burned.

Remember, there are some good business opportunities out there; you simply have to find the right one. Be patient, network, Google for more information; talk with successful entrepreneurs and forums, etc. Get busy; this is serious business, your business.

Another important point: More often than not, investors in business opportunities are led to believe that the business is highly profitable, when in fact, it is not. Also, investors often find that the business opportunity promoter is unresponsive to complaints and may even go out of business before problems are resolved, leaving you with a huge financial loss.

The solution to avoiding that situation:
Caution! Be careful. That means research (due diligence) all opportunities in detail before investing your money. And like the old IBM logo ?Think?, think about and use some plain old common sense when in doubt. Be patient, work hard, stay focused on the business at hand and maintain a happy family environment. That will increase your chances of a successful and profitable business opportunity on the Internet.

According to the National Council of Better Business Bureaus, more and more people are looking for work from home and home based business opportunities on the Internet. How do scammers use the Internet to prey on individuals looking for opportunities? They use the Internet as a tool to recruit home based business prospects allowing them to hide their identities. A common trick to attract prospects is to post fake ?testimonials? about employees who became rich after joining their opportunity.

Methods scammers use to take your money:
First, this one is old and evidently still effective; the old ?bait-and-switch? scheme that requires payment up front for materials. Then the victim pays a start up cost and may never receive what they paid for; supplies, instructions or ?client? leads. It may seem hard to believe, but many people fall for this kind of scam over and over. Other schemes include mentoring programs where scammers post ads in local newspapers to ?Start Your Own Business,? and offering a startup package for a huge amount of money. With a growing number of retirees looking for income to supplement their small retirement income, older people are targeted by ?con-men? and cheated out of their life savings.

Just in case you have forgotten, fraud and scams were happening before the Internet was created.

So don?t think scams and fraud on the Internet is any different; except con-men now have Information Technology and the Internet to do their dirt. During the days of brick and mortar businesses offline, how did you deal with con-men and those out to empty your pockets and leave you broke? I?m sure you used caution, got burned a few times and learned the hard way. Yes, experience certainly is the best teacher. I suggest you read more, Google search for information on Internet scams and simply use your common sense in sorting out legitimate home based business opportunities from scams.
