Use Caution in Choosing an Internet Home Based Business

Are you ready to start an Internet home based business? First, before talking about anything else, let’s first clear up this myth about the Internet and making money overnight or in a few days. You’ve seen the slick ads, they look good and very convincing. Think about it intensely before you accept any opportunity.

The fact is that making money overnight on the Internet Is a Pipe Dream!! Think; really think about what I just said. There are no free rides and you will not get rich overnight or in a few days.

Scammers are making millions of dollars selling you the dream of making money without working for it. I believe it’s the great ad copy that gets people to hand over their money for the latest and greatest money making offer; a get rich quick scheme or scam. Remember this and use it as your mantra; “If it sounds too good to be true it usually is”.

Think about what they are trying to do. Sure you can read the copy and read the offer, but keep in mind the ad copy is designed to get you to buy right NOW without doing any research about the product or service being offered. Slick, flashy ad copy usually gets people every time. THINK; think about it before you make your move too soon. Just back up and slow down.

Okay, so you have read the latest and greatest money making offer. Now, STOP!! Do some research about the offer, the company or the individual. Take as much time as you need to do this, then when you join a home based business opportunity you’re doing it with your eyes wide open and you know what you getting into.

Folks, that?s the only safe way to search out a legitimate Internet home based business opportunity. It may not be 100% full proof, but at least you’ve done what the overwhelming majority of people on the Internet don’t do; slow down and do the proper research. If you never did your homework in school, you best do it when you?re considering a business opportunity.

When you do accept or start an Internet home based business opportunity, be prepared to work hard. Probably much more than you did with your last traditional job. You must be self-disciplined, dedicated and have a strong desire to succeed and achieve your goal of financial freedom. You resources must include first and foremost, a late model computer with high-speed Internet connection and at least basic computer and Internet skills. Be prepared to be in a constant learning mode because the Internet is evolving fast. You need to be in tune to upcoming changes on the Internet. Also, a separate room in your home set aside for your office is very important.

Other issues that must be addressed are interruptions and disturbances from family and friends while working from home. Remember, this is YOUR BUSINESS, not just another job where you made someone else rich. The buck stops with you because now you are the boss. Improve Your Recruiting Efforts in a Home Based Business

How did your recruiting efforts go in your home based business for 2008?

There are a variety of ways to recruit people into your business opportunity. We have all seen the ads on the internet, read about it and heard about the latest and greatest ways to bring in 5, 10, or 15 people every week from the so called guru’s in the network marketing industry. The reality is, most people would be very excited if they could bring in even 2 to 4 people consistently every month.

The fact is recruiting is the lifeblood of your business. You can’t create a solid business unless you either sponsor enough new business affiliates and/or bring in new customers. It’s interesting how many people focus solely on bringing in business builders and forget about just having new customers. When you are building your home based business, you want both business builders and customers.

I’m sure you have heard about individuals that have achieved great success in only 3 to 6 months after joining XYZ company. However, did you ever consider how they actually achieved so much success in a short period of time? Chances are they came into that company with a large circle of contacts. So don’t compare their results with yours.

So what do you do if you do not have a large contact base or credibility with people?

My suggestion is to create one. Now this won’t be quick or easy to do. However, by staying focused and being dedicated, one can create a large circle of friends that respect them and over time some will join you in your home based business. As leaders, its our responsibility to bring new people in the right way and to teach them correct business building strategies.

There are dozens of methods to use and everyone has their own techniques and strategies on recruiting. First, you could go out to one of the leads companies who specialize in business opportunity leads and purchase one of their packages, then start calling those prospects. I have done that before with basically zero results. One thing to note on leads as a general rule. They have a very low success rate, so if you have deep pockets and don’t mind calling hundreds and possibly thousands of people to build a business, then go for it. I would suggest you stop wasting your money by buying leads.

There are other ways to create your own leads that are unique to you. I have used a system called Veretekk. It’s a marketing system that is designed to help you create your own premium leads. Just Google Veretekk and sign up for a free system via their home company page. They offer a variety of free training on SEO and other internet strategies.

Second, some people really like the 3 foot rule and face to face interactions. I know of many people who have built large and successful home based businesses by this method. In fact, the highest success rate is still face to face. For example, you can attend chamber of commerce etc meetings, network meetings in your local area, personal development seminars are great places to meet and mingle with like minded individuals.

Have you ever considered calling business professionals like Real Estate professionals, mortgage brokers and insurance agents. Why you might ask? Think about it for a moment. What do all 3 have in common? They are in sales and get paid for production. So they understand that if you want to be successful in your own business opportunity, they will need to bring in new people and customers.

Third, is to shake hands online and get to know people and create an online presence via social networking. The social networking has grown exponentially over the past few years like Facebook, MySpace, Squidoo etc. Now this will take time doing anything online, especially when people can’t see you face to face. So again, its investing time in people that will win you your financial freedom.

It’s a numbers game. Have you heard that before? Exposure, it’s always about exposure. People buy WHO we are, not what we have. You don’t have to be anything you are not, everybody has unique gifts and abilities. Just BE you. Don’t think for a minute you have to come across as Mr. or Mrs. Network Marketer who has a really successful home based business if that is not the case.

Once you have done enough of this you will have created a list of new friends that respect you. Your objective should be to develop your list to about 150 friends that you have had actual telephone conversations with. Do you realize how many people they could refer you to? Thousands! In one year, out of 150 friends, you can be assured that 3 or 4 will be looking for an opportunity every month. Which ones? Who knows, the only way to find out is by staying in touch and being a friend. People will know if you are being legitimate or trying to fake it. Be yourself and be a friend.

From my observation, the Law of Averages guarantees at least one person a month will join you in your home based business. It’s a lot of work before results start showing up. This is why most people quit and stay broke. It does not matter what program you are in, if you recruit one solid person in this manner every month, one day you will have an awesome freedom income.

From my perspective, being part of a team of like minded people sharing a similar vision of the future, being passionate about a product mission in an environment that inspires, encourages and teaches is the most effective method to accomplish this. Network Marketing is not for everybody. It takes a lot sweat equity to make it happen. Are you up for the challenge and will you be one of the success stories in your company.

We all have ambitions, goals, and dreams in life. So, what’s stopping you from developing a home based business opportunity and having the life that you want and deserve? Well, for many people, its that Four Letter word called Fear. You know, its that inner voice nagging at you with thoughts of; you can’t be successful, you won’t make any money, your family and friends will only laugh at you. Does some of that sound familiar? Well, if any of this applies to you, then invest a few minutes and find out what you can specifically do to re-program your life for success.

Fist, stop behaving like you are some kind of victim. Part of the fear factor, people get stuck in a rut or have a bad experience in starting a home based business and decide they will never try that again. The truth is, we all have experienced failures so that we can ultimately have successes. Stop and think about this for a minute. Imagine for a minute if people like Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan would have given up after a few mistakes?

We all have stories and rackets going on internally, but its the meaning we give it that determines of thought processes and how we react to people and situations. For example, do you get upset to the point of road rage when someone cuts you off while driving? If you do, then chill out. If I got upset each and every time someone cut me off, I would be mad all the time when driving. Stop majoring in the minor stuff of life.

Second, why does it really matter what anyone else thinks? This is your life we are talking about. So you need to make decisions that are best for you and your immediate family. Your wife or husband may not be involved in your particular business opportunity, but as long as they understand and are supportive, that is really all you should need. For example, my wife has not always been involved in some of the home based businesses I have done, but she has been supportive as far as saying, if it something that I wanted to do and doesn’t interfere with quality family time, then go for it. So, I work my home based business around other priority activities in our family.

Vision – The bigger – The better

Third, if you have no vision, then how do you expect to be successful. It would be the equivalent to taking a road trip and starting off in New York City and travelling across the United States and somehow ending up in some obscure town in California that you have never visited before. So, when you start doing some dreaming about your future, think big because you want to anchor it to a big enough Vision that will keep you focused and motivated to achieving your goals no matter what. Many people refer to this as your Why. Whatever you want to call it, go through the process and write it down.

To often we jump on the MLM train without really investigating or asking enough questions because someone who was a good sales person and convinced you that now is the time. You see, when someone suggests to me that I should do it now, I simply ask, what’s the hurry? If this so called home based business opportunity is so good today, then surely next week or next month it should be just as good.

My personal perspective is to investigate, ask lots of questions and until you get your questions answered to your satisfaction, avoid jumping on that train. There are thousands of opportunities available at any one time online.

Personal Development and Education

Fourth, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to invest into personal development and educational programs. Part of the reason, we are exposed to so much negativity at anyone time during the day, its no wonder we have a lot of stinking thinking going on inside of us. So the first step is to get into a new mental paradigm shift and stop feeding your mind negative stuff all the time. If you feed it negative stuff all day long, then guess what? That’s right, you might just be tainted and develop a negative mindset. If you feed your mind positive stuff, guess what? You might just end up thinking positive and looking for ways to improve your life.

If you want to change your mindset, then change your surroundings and start hanging around successful people. You might be thinking that’s kind of hard to give up on friends you have had for many years. Nope, I never said to get rid of your long term friends. But ask yourself, what is your friendship costing you in terms of a quality of life? They say your income is the average of your closest 5 to 10 friends. Maybe the same could be said about your mental state as well.

Action

You can listen to all of the personal development, weekly conference calls and attend all of the corporate functions available throughout the year, but unless you take daily action to produce results, nothing tangible will really happen in your life. You see if about utilizing a variety of skill sets each day to design your life. Yes, I mean design your life.

Being empowered is good, but taking action and producing results is what you must ultimately do in any home based business opportunity if you want success. There are simply no short cuts in life and there are no free rides. It will always be a combination of multiple steps and actions that produces success. I think to many people wish things could be different, but they have not done anything to really improve their lives. Start building and designing your own life today.
